Taking a Social Media Hiatus

I'm incredibly happy about the reception for The Druid Stone. I do have one regret—well, actually two. Sidewalks and blocks. I can't blame our wonderful Irish beta for that, because she pointed them out, but we forgot to fix them in the final draft. I even remember skimming over those few instances at the very last revision, and thinking they weren't in an Irish POV when in fact they were. If there's a new edition, we'll do our best to fix those goddamn sidewalks *shakes fist at heaven and the Atlantic Ocean*

I've just spent the weekend at Dragon*Con, which was fantastic. I sat on a panel on LGBT paranormal fiction headed by our Loose Id editor, Venessa Giunta. The panel was diverse and far-ranging and we had some excellent discussion. Other highlights of Dragon*Con were an academic panel on China MiƩville and metafiction that featured a Jack Half-A-Prayer cosplayer, getting my picture taken sandwiched in between John Barrowman and James Marsters, and hanging out with buddies from Torchwood fandom.

After an extremely social weekend, however, I'm facing some issues and realizing I'm overextended. In Jeff VanderMeer's great guide to writing, Booklife, he talks about these periods as part of the natural ebb and flow of creativity. So in order to de-stress and recharge, I'm going to take a hiatus from social media. I'm not sure how long. At least a month, probably. I'm going to keep up with most obligations, like my monthly post at LGBT Fantasy Fans and Writers and an exciting project related to The Druid Stone. But I won't be reviewing for More Than This during this time and I won't be on Twitter, Goodreads, Facebook, G+ or blogs.

If you want to get in touch you can email or comment here. See you on the other side.
